World History
According to Blogger, this is my 1000th post! I find it hard to believe. I started this blog near the end of 2003 and the time has gone by fast! In this time, I have changed my url and in the process also seen the history blogosphere explode.
Some of my posts have been good, some have been bad, many have highlighted other sites, some have hosted History Carnivals, and others have promoted these same carnivals. However, through it all, this blog has allowed me to write about history in an easy way. And I appreciate all who have taken the time to post comments, link to me, or just read my writing.
What does 1000 mean? Of course, Wikipedia has an article on this. It can mean just a number ( a one followed by three zeroes, in the general notation), time (a millennium has 1000 years), a specific year (the year 1000 is the last year of the first millennium AD), and money (as in a grand). I guess I am using 1000 as the first sense listed above.
I realize that 1000 is not really that significant of a number. It is just nice and round and is the first one with four digits. Nonetheless, I note that most blogs do not stick around very long, many that do are infrequently updated, and that it is significant for a blog to reach this level. As such, I am taking this moment to briefly celebrate before starting on the next 1000.
