50th Anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution
Today marks the 50th anniversary of the start of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. It was brief but the people of Hungary clearly demonstrated their desire to end communism. But for the Soviet Union, they may well have been succesful. Soviet troops engaged Hungarian forces and the revolution was over by November 10th, 1956.
